SHIELDED DISTANCE TELEMETRY PIN WIRING FOR ACTIVE IMPLANTABLE MEDICAL DEVICES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an RF telemetry pin in an electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter terminal for an active implantable medical device (AIMD), which prevents re-radiation of unwanted stray signals. SOLUTION: An EMI filter terminal assembly 50 for an AIMD has a radio frequency (RF) telemetry pin antenna 56 extending therethrough. The RF telemetry pin antenna 56 includes a conductive shield 60 extending over a portion of the RF telemetry pin antenna 56 in non-conductive relation with the RF telemetry pin, and conductively connected to a grounding conductor associated with the AIMD. The assembly 50 also includes an insulation tube 58 between the RF telemetry pin antenna 56 and the conductive shield covering part of the RF telemetry pin antenna. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
