The invention relates to an input device for arrangement in a vehicle passenger interior compartment and for receiving input to select among different selectable aspects of an appliance system in a vehicle, the input device (3) comprising a touch pad (4) being assigned to a handwriting interpretation function for interpreting input to at least one area (4"') of the touch pad as one out of a library of symbols corresponding to the selectable aspects. The input device further comprises fixed plus/minus buttons (4") enabling gradual adjustment of said aspects.
