<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of easily judging whether a protection sheet is removed from the inside of the image forming apparatus or not even in a state that a minimum protection sheet is used by a user for setting when a consumption article such as a process cartridge is attached to an image forming apparatus body and the image forming apparatus is shipped in a state that the protection sheet is inserted between the consumption article and the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus for forming an image in a state that a detachable consumption member having a protection sheet is attached includes a communication means for communicating with a memory built in the detachable consumption member and a protection sheet presence/absence discrimination means for discriminating whether the protection sheet exists or not in accordance with the communication state of the communication means with the memory. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
