The printer has a device (10) for transporting and/or processing the printed sheets which is positioned in a vacuum chamber (18) which has an underpressure in relation to the surrounding pressure of the printer. Independent claim describes folding apparatus for printed material where folds can be formed on the copies separated from the printed web in the folding unit which is positioned in the underpressure chamber. The underpressure chamber has at least two sluices (19,20) with one introducing the sheets and the other discharging the sheets.
