PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-efficiency compressor which can improve sealability by improving oil-retainability of the outer periphery of a piston. SOLUTION: The space volume of an annular groove 121 formed on the outer periphery of the piston 119 is made 0.25 mm<SP>3</SP>to 25 mm<SP>3</SP>. Then the oil-retainability of a capillary action can be maintained, and the sealability can be improved. Then the sliding lubricating condition of the piston can be improved by the formation of an eddy flow of a labyrinth effect. Then the sealability caused by the labyrinth effect can be retained by the formation of the eddy flow of the labyrinth effect, and the amount of leakage of a refrigerant gas from the clearance between the piston 119 and a cylinder 116 can be reduced, thus volumetric efficiency of the compressor can be increased.
