<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of gas sensor element capable of forming an insulating coat in a short time with excellent manufacturing efficiency, when forming the insulating coat on the side face of a non-calcined gas sensor element piece cut out from a non-calcined laminate. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of non-calcined gas sensor element pieces are cut out from the non-calcined laminate formed by laminating a plurality of non-calcined solid electrolyte sheets, and an insulating paste working as the insulating coat 115 after calcination is applied onto both side faces and the tip face where a laminate interface of the non-calcined gas sensor element pieces is exposed. The insulating paste includes an ultraviolet curing resin and alumina powder. The insulating paste applied onto the non-calcined gas sensor element pieces is irradiated with an ultraviolet ray to cure the insulating paste, and to form a cured film. Then, the non-calcined gas sensor element pieces are degreased and calcined, to thereby acquire the gas sensor element 11 with the insulating coat 115 formed thereon.
