PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an inertial force from occurring in the delivery reel of a transfer material even if a locking lever is rotated to a locking position. SOLUTION: The identification printing device comprises a tension arm 38 which applies tension to a ribbon by rotating in a first direction, and is rotated in a second direction opposite to the first direction on the basis of the rotation of a locking lever 37 into the unlocking position, a holding member 40 which is removably engaged with the tension arm 38 rotated in the second direction and continues the holding even if the locking lever 37 is rotated into a locking position, and a moving arm 48 which releases the hold of the tension arm 25 by the holding member 40 on the basis of pressure contact of the thermal head 25 to a card 12a through the ribbon.
