A method of harvesting beet seed includes preliminary chemical drying of the seed plants with desiccants. The treatment of the seed plants is carried out with the non-selective herbicide Roundup 7-10 days prior to harvesting the seed plants at a rate of 2.0-4.0 l/ha provided that mealiness of the perisperm on cross-section thereof is 40-60%.
