PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and a network image pick-up system which can use a photographed image more certainly. SOLUTION: When a photographic subject has motion, an event issuing part 14 issues an event of motion detection and notify it. An image control section 16 makes a frame rate low in a period of time when the motion is not detected based on a notice of the motion detection from event issuing part 14, and makes a frame rate high in a fixed period of time before and behind timing at which the motion has been detected. An image on which the adjustment of the frame rate is performed by a video control section 16 is transmitted to a terminal unit 3 via a network 2 from a communication control part 17. The communication control part 17, when it transmits image data of a high frame rate to a terminal unit 3, if this transmission goes wrong, it saves temporarily image data which has failed in this transmission. Further, when transmitting image data of a low frame rate after that, it transmits again the image data of a high frame rate saved temporarily. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
