A metal surface temperature measuring instrument comprising a container for coolant accommodation, a measurement object, a heater for heating the measurement object, means for transferring the measurement object, a thermometer for measuring of the surface temperature of the measurement object, etc., wherein the main body of the measurement object consists of silver or copper, and wherein the main body has a surface coated with a pure iron or iron alloy thin film of 1 to 100 µm thickness. At least the container, heater and measurement object are arranged inside a chamber of inert gas atmosphere.
