PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pixel interpolator in which a seam in a final expansion image is made inconspicuous as much as possible even if an image having a sharp variation in gray level is divided at a boundary of a gray level and the divided images are expanded using a bilinear interpolation method before being coupled, and to provide a pixel interpolation program for operating a computer as such a pixel interpolator. SOLUTION: When an interpolation point is located outside a region occupied by original pixels constituting an original image and a predetermined difference of a gray scale exists among pixel values of four original pixels around an interpolation point when the pixel value at one interpolation point is created from the pixel values of four original pixels around the interpolation point, a printer 10 uses a corrected inverse metric value in place of an inverse metric value determined by a general bilinear interpolation method.
