PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire tread, having extremely improved wet performance. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for the tire tread is obtained by compounding (C) 5-50 pts.wt. low molecular weight styrene-butadiene copolymer rubber having 2,000-90,000 weight average molecular weight with 100 pts.wt. solid rubber component comprising (A) 50-95 pts.wt. dienic rubber, and (B) 50-5 pts.wt. dienic rubber gel comprising 40-75 wt% conjugated diene monomer unit, 25-60 wt% aromatic monovinyl monomer unit and 0-20 wt% polyfunctional monomer unit, and having 16-70 toluene swelling index.
