PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color picture tube device for correcting upper/lower inner pin cushion distortions easily and effectively. SOLUTION: Three electron beams emitted from an electron gun 14 are deflected horizontally and vertically by a horizontal deflection coil 4 and a vertical deflection coil 5, and form a color image on a screen. A deflection yoke 7 has a pair of correction coils 9. The pair of correction coils 9 is arranged at the rear of the horizontal deflection coil 4 and the vertical deflection coil 5 so that it sandwiches electron beams in the horizontal direction of the screen, generates an auxiliary deflection magnetic field in the same direction as the vertical deflection direction, changes the waveform of current to be supplied to the correction coil 9 to current waveform having the maximum value of the absolute value of a current value at a part corresponding to the position between the horizontal axis of the screen and the visible outline of the screen in the vertical direction to the screen, thus correcting the upper/lower inner pin cushion distortions.
