PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing mechanism capable of eliminating impact noise caused by its impact with a rack shaft, reducing a linear movement frictional resistance, reducing a difference in linear movement frictional resistance between a time when linear movement is started and a time when the linear movement is performed, and providing stable linear movement frictional resistance without being affected by the dimensional error of the outer diameter of a rack shaft and the roundness of the inner diameter of a housing to smoothly pivotally support the rack shaft for smooth linear movement of the rack shaft, and also capable of improving steering feeling by a steering wheel and sufficiently maintaining the suppressing effect of flatter. SOLUTION: This bearing mechanism 1 comprises the housing 3 having a cylindrical inner peripheral surface 2, the rack shaft 5 fitted into the housing 3 and having a cylindrical outer peripheral surface 4, and a sliding bearing 6 interposed between the inner peripheral surface 2 of the housing 3 and the outer peripheral surface 4 of the rack shaft 5.
