<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of achieving power saving while reducing an opportunity for a user or the like to feel inconvenience. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises a switching means for switching an operating mode to a power saving mode during which power consumption is less than a mode during which a job can be executed based on a waiting time that continues at present, in which no job is executed. Further, the image processing apparatus comprises a measuring means for measuring an execution time and a waiting time of a job within a fixed period of time in the past such as one hour in the past, one day in the past or one week in the past, and a shift time determining means for determining a shift time based on measured lengths of the execution time and the waiting time.
