摘要

An encrypt/decrypt LSI contains LSI keys common with other apparatuses, and a ROM stores device keys specific for the apparatus. The encrypt/decrypt LSI reads device keys stored in the ROM and creates data keys specific for the apparatus from the device keys and the LSI keys contained therein. And the encrypt/decrypt LSI uses the data keys to encrypt/decrypt data. These steps enable to prevent illegal copies of data while avoiding to the maximum extent possible any increases in the cost of the information processing apparatus.
