PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably supply a necessary amount of electrical power depending on a driven state of a recording head, without changing a driving signal to each recording element. SOLUTION: This recording apparatus comprises the recording head with a plurality of recording elements, and a power supply circuit for supplying the electrical power for driving the recording head. The recording apparatus determines the number of the simultaneously driven recording elements among the plurality of recording elements (S2), on the basis of recording data, determines the amount of the transition of the number of the simultaneously driven recording elements (S6), changes an output voltage of the power supply circuit depending on the number of the simultaneously driven recording elements (S3 and S4), and performs nonrecording driving for imparting such electrical energy as to make recording undone to the recording head, depending on the amount of the transition (S9-S11).
