The wheel has two identical shrink rings (3) adapted to immobilize the firewood segments (2) between them and with respect to the wheel by holding the segments tight against each other. The shrink rings define running surfaces (7) of the wheel, and are assembled by bullnoses (4) and bolts (5). Identical cross-pieces (6) connect the rings together and maintain the rings assembled. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method for transporting firewood segments (2) method for storing and/or drying firewood segments.
