PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for discharging surface treatment and a discharging surface treatment method capable of depositing a groove-free film of various kinds of shapes in the discharging surface treatment. SOLUTION: The electrode for discharging surface treatment is formed of a powder compact which is formed of metal powder, metal compound powder or ceramic powder, or the heated powder compact. Pulse-shaped discharge is generated between the electrode and a work in a working liquid or a gas, and a film consisting of an electrode material or a substance of the electrode material reacted by the discharge energy is deposited on a work surface by the energy.
