PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission module whose high-speed transmission performance is never affected, and also to provide an optical connector having the same. SOLUTION: The optical transmission module 14 comprises an optical signal transmitter 22 which is such that a light emitting element 18 is housed in a cylindrical module body 16, a supporting member 34, and a small-size connection substrate 38. In the supporting member 34, a cylindrical holder 32 is formed. The optical signal transmitter 22 is inserted into the cylindrical holder 32 through an opening 32U on one side of the cylindrical holder 32 from the pin 20 side, and the pins 20 protrude from an opening 32K on the other side of the cylindrical holder 32. Inside the cylindrical holder 32, a positioning portion 36 is formed against which a positioning stopper 30 is to be abutted. The small-size connection substrate 38 is abutted against the supporting member 34 from the side where the opening 32L is formed and is perpendicular to the module body 16 of the module, and is electrically connected by the pins 20 protruding from the cylindrical holder 32.
