摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which can carry out quantity of light control by effectively using a non image formation period without being influenced by effects of a disturbance light, and can reduce density irregularities generated in images, and to provide a quantity of light control method. SOLUTION: Periods excluding a predetermined period (returning light incidence period C) wherein the light has the possibility of entering any of light emitting parts 50A within the non image formation period other than an image formation period for forming the image by scanning light beams emitted from the light emitting parts 50A to a photoreceptor drum 12 are made quantity of light control periods APC1 and APC2. The light emitting parts 50A are sequentially driven to emit the light beams in the whole period of the quantity of light control periods APC1 and APC2. The quantity of light control of the light beams emitted from each light emitting part 50A is carried out on the basis of an emission quantity of light of the light beams detected by a quantity of light sensor 58.
