PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner employing a reduction optical system or an unmagnification optical system (close contact optical system) and including a read unit wherein ends of a read region in a main scanning direction can be made compact by configuring the optical system capable of magnifying the read region in the main scanning direction up to the ends. SOLUTION: The image scanner provided with a read unit including an image forming lens and an image sensor for configuring the reduction optical system is provided with: an inclusion located between a read original face and an image forming lens or a reflection face for reflecting an optical path and at least one end of which is curved to magnify a read pitch in the main scanning direction; and a correction means for calculating an interpolation arithmetic operation after reading corresponding to a magnified amount of the magnified read pitch.
