<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing olefins from a hydrocarbon feedstock and an oxygen-containing gas. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the olefin comprises supplying a self-heating decomposer with the hydrocarbon feedstock and the oxygen-containing gas, wherein the method includes driving at least partially an ammonia absorption refrigeration system, by using an exhaust enthalpy source formed by a self-heating decomposition process, and refrigerating at least one process stream in separation and/or purification of the olefins from a formed hydrocarbon stream. Further, the method includes an ammonia absorption refrigeration process, wherein at least one of the enthalpy source selected from a group consisting of quenched water formed by cooling a decomposed gas from a self-heating decomposition reactor, water vapor formed by cooling the decomposed gas from the self-heating decomposition reactor, an enough warm stream derived from a process in which ethylene produced from the self-heating decomposition process is utilized, and an enough warm stream from a chemical or purification process unit positioned near the self-heating decomposition reactor is included in the ammonia absorption refrigeration process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
