<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retro-reflector having a high retro-reflectance used for a reflection type display element and the like. <P>SOLUTION: In a recessed triangle array, planar structure of a unit (non-recursive unit) in a non-recursive region is a regular hexagon congruent with a unit structure (recursive unit S) in a recursive region. Therein, by eliminating the non-recursive units from the recessed triangle array, an array consisting of the recursive units S and void parts can be formed. By arranging the recursive units S on the void parts, the retro-reflector 8 for the display device can be obtained. Thus, the retro-reflector 8 has a surface on which the recursive units S of the recessed triangle array are close-packedly arranged. That is, in the retro-reflector 8, the whole surface region is constituted with the recursive units S and, therefore, the whole surface is a recursive region.
