<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a ceramic monolith carrier, by which the ceramic monolith carrier having pore diameters larger than those of a conventional one can be easily produced; and the ceramic monolith carrier obtained by the same. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the ceramic monolith carrier 1 comprising cordierite includes a mixing process for obtaining a mixed raw material by mixing an Al source, an Si source and an Mg source for preparing cordierite; a forming process for obtaining a formed body having a honeycomb structure provided with an outer peripheral wall 2, partition walls 3 arranged at the inside of the outer peripheral wall 2 and having a honeycomb form, and a plurality of cells 4 which are partitioned by the partition walls 3 and penetrate to both end surfaces by forming the mixed raw material; and a firing process for firing the formed body. In the mixing process, talc having an average particle diameter of ≥2 μm is used as the Mg source of the raw material for preparing cordierite, and a substance containing boron is added as an additive. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
