PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system where ease of attachment of a leading-end optical adaptor can be improved, without degrading the examinability of subjects. SOLUTION: The endoscope system 1 includes a power source device 3; an insertion section 24 inserted into a space of an object to be examined, such that a laser beam from the light source device 3 is emitted from the emission end face 36b of its leading end 21; and the leading-end optical adaptor 60 attached detachably to the leading end 21 of the insertion section 24. The endoscope system 1 is provided with an adaptor detecting means for detecting the attachment/detachment of the leading-end optical adaptor 60 to/from the insertion section 24, and an emission light control means for controlling light emitted from the emitting section, in synchronization with the detection by the adaptor detecting means.
