A hand-polishing machine (1) has an ultrasonic transmitter (2) to emit its energy directly onto a polishing surface to work the polishing agent (PA) (4) in for a good finish. Ultrasonic energy penetrates through a polishing hood (PH) (5) and can loosen residual fine particles of dirt from a painted surface and then remove them. For deriving better ultrasonic energy, the PH can draw off the PA.
