PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drastically reduce a memory capacity of a frame memory required for overdrive processing. SOLUTION: An overdrive processing means comprises a single memory for storing image data of the preceding frame, and a memory control circuit for controlling the memory, and the memory control circuit comprises; a 1st data reducing circuit for reducing a data amount of input image data and producing compressed image data; a write buffer circuit for temporarily storing the compressed image data output from the 1st data reducing circuit; a read buffer circuit for temporarily storing the compressed image data read from the memory; a 1st data reproducing circuit for reproducing the reproduction image data on the basis of the compressed image data output from the read buffer circuit; and a timing control circuit for writing the compressed image data stored in the write buffer circuit, reading out the compressed image data from the memory and inputting the data into the read buffer circuit.
