<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate substance removal apparatus capable of continuously burning and removing a particulate substance and preventing rising of a discharge pressure. <P>SOLUTION: The particulate substance cleaning apparatus is provided with an oxygen occlusion material containing a composite metal oxide represented by a general formula: (A'<SB>1-x</SB>A''<SB>x</SB>)<SB>1-α</SB>(B'<SB>1-y</SB>B''<SB>y</SB>)<SB>1-β</SB>O<SB>z</SB>(A' is at least one kind of metal of La, Nd, Gd and Y; A'' is at least one kind of metal of Sr, Ca, Ba, Ce and Pr; B' and B'' are one kind of metal of Mn, Co, Ti, Fe, Ni, Cu and Al and are different from each other; 0.15≤α≤0.9, 0.1≤β≤0.9, 0≤x≤1, 0≤y≤1 and 1<z). B' is Mn, A' is La and A'' is Sr. The oxygen occlusion material is subjected to acid treatment and is a composite material of a composite metal oxide and a single body metal oxide.
