Disclosed are an elevator hoist apparatus and an elevator apparatus which allow omission of the machine room and a reduction in the dimension of the top portion of the hoistway. <??>The elevator hoist apparatus has a pair of drive motor portions and a pair of drive sheaves respectively arranged at the ends of a drive shaft.
