PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resorcinol resin of a low content of unreacted resorcinol having excellent fluidity in order to solve the problem that, since the molecular weight of the precursor preliminary polycondensate of the resorcinol resin is preferably as low as possible to achieve fluidity, the use of reduced amounts of reaction of formaldehyde to resorcinol tends to increase, with decreasing molecular weight of the precursor, the content of unreacted resorcinol possibly causing various troubles. SOLUTION: The method comprises bringing a resorcinol resin into contact with a mixed solvent comprising a smaller amount of a good solvent for resorcinol having a solubility parameter of≥9.0 and a larger amount of a poor solvent for resorcinol having a solubility parameter of≤9.0 and a boiling point higher than that of the good solvent, removing almost all the good solvent by distillation and taking out the precipitated resin in order to enable manufacture of a resorcinol resin of a low content of unreacted resorcinol having excellent fluidity.
