<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving image recording apparatus and a display control method in which the reproduction and display of photographed moving images and the display (or output) of a plurality of still pictures contained in the moving images can be selected. <P>SOLUTION: In the moving image recording apparatus for compressing and recording moving images by adapting an MPEG encoding scheme, a modification means is provided for modifying an N parameter of an MPEG, thereby freely changing the number of pictures in a GOP.
