A method for preventing condensation, especially on the cooled writing and scanning heads in a printing system has the heads (3, 4) in a slim encapsulated housing (8) through which is ducted dried air from a separate dehumidifier module (5) connected to the housing via a flexible duct (7). The dried air is ducted through the housing and is expelled via vents at the far end of the housing. The dehumidifier is controlled by moisture sensors in the housing.
