The invention concerns a method enabling at least one still or moving image to be viewed by a user provided with a viewing terminal, said image being associated with a basic mesh consisting of an assembly of facets defined by an assembly of apices and edges, and with coefficients in a base of wavelets corresponding to local modifications of said basic mesh, called wavelet coefficients. The invention is characterized in that such a viewing method includes the following steps: loading at least one basic mesh on said viewing terminal, so as to enable a low resolution version of said image to be reconstructed; said user obtaining a right for viewing said image; authorizing access of said user to at least some of said wavelet coefficients, based on said viewing right.
