A porous carbon material impregnated with a liquid by-product from amino acid fermentation characterized by comprising a porous carbon material having been impregnated with a liquid by-product from amino acid fermentation. This porous carbon material impregnated with a liquid by-product from amino acid fermentation is effectively usable in coping with sources of soil diseases and physiological plant disorders. It exerts a growth promoting effect from the early growth stage to the harvesting of plants and, moreover, in continuous cropping.
