<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that, in a downright backlight device used for a large LCD display device, it is necessary to prevent unevenness of brightness due to hanging-down deformation of a fluorescent tube due to the deadweight caused by the elongated tube length, and to prevent damage on the fluorescent tube caused by vibration or shock, and to have a fluorescent tube holder having a shape of reducing unevenness of brightness caused by the lowering of the temperature of the fluorescent tube against environmental temperature due to the heat conduction from the fluorescent tube to the fluorescent tube holder, and the lowering of the brightness at a neighborhood of a contact area of the fluorescent tube. <P>SOLUTION: A fluorescent tube holder having a polygonal pinching shape is adopted, the fluorescent tube is held at a given position, and at the same time, an area contacting with the tube is reduced in order to lower the unevenness of brightness due to the heat conduction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
