PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus of which the display performance is improved and a driving method therefor. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display apparatus which displays an image by applying an electric field to liquid crystal and by sequentially displaying a frame, includes: a plurality of scanning lines and signal lines which are formed on a first substrate; a plurality of switching elements which are arranged near intersections of the plurality of scanning lines and the signal lines and are connected to the scanning lines; a plurality of pixel electrodes which are connected to the plurality of switching elements; a scanning line driving circuit for supplying a scanning signal to the plurality of signal lines; and a signal driving circuit for supplying a display signal to the plurality of signal lines. In a frame period from starting one frame to starting next frame, a sequential scanning period for sequentially scanning the plurality of scanning lines and a blank period in which the scanning signal driving circuit stops the sequential scanning of the scanning line and the plurality of switching elements are set to be in a OFF state, are included.
