<p>An explosive-wax compsn. is prepd. by (a) dissolving the wax in a solvent immiscible with water in all proportions but forming a heteroazeotrope with steam (b) suspending the explosive in water with any extra ingredients presetn (c) mixing the two with good agitation; either (i) casting the solution all at once and distilling of the solvent azeotrope or (ii) heating to the azeotropes distillation temp. and casting the soln. a little at a time while distilling off the solvent azeotrope. The process may be carried out at low temps., using vacuum, and waxes with softening points >100 degrees may be used.</p> |
