PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication apparatus capable of changing antennas by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a transceiver 10 for performing transmission and reception to and from a portable radio communication apparatus; an A antenna 1 and a B antenna 2 having directivity to the inside of a vehicle; an antenna changeover portion 3 for connecting either the A antenna 1 or B antenna 2 to the transceiver 10; passenger sensors 5-9 for detecting the arrangement of passengers including a driver inside the vehicle; and a controller 4 which stores an antenna selecting table 4a in which combination of each arrangement of passengers and an antenna to be used is represented corresponding to each other, and selects an antenna to be connected by the changeover portion 3 on the basis of the arrangement of the passengers detected by the passenger sensors 5-9 by referring to this selecting table 4a.
