PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the settling of a leaf spring and reduce manufacturing cost while improving insertability and durability. SOLUTION: A female contact 1 comprises: a rectangular cylinder-shaped socket 10 having a space for housing a male contact; and the leaf spring 20 bent into the shape of a bow to touch the male contact and held in the socket 10. The leaf spring 20 is placed such that a fixed end 22 is located backward in the direction of the insertion of the male contact while a free end 23 is located forward in that direction. A bending portion 21 bending upward is formed near the free end 23 to extend along the direction of the width of the socket 10. A portion of the leaf spring 20 near the fixed end 22 and the crest of the bending portion 21 touch an upper wall 13 of the socket 10. A single protrusion 13a protruding downward is formed in a location on the upper wall 13 of the socket 10 opposed to the crest of the bow shape of the leaf spring 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
