PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening method for materials having hair restoration/new hair growth functions, and provide an established in-vivo evaluation method used therefor. SOLUTION: In the in-vivo evaluation method for the hair restoration/new hair growth functions, a morphological change in a hair follicle is measured as an evaluation factor by using a mouse whose hair cycle is made attuned forcibly, and the hair restoration/new hair growth functions are evaluated. For effectively screening a material which can serve as an element candidate of hair restoring/growing agents, from an extremely great number of living being extracts or matters, an in-vitro evaluation is carried out, in which an inhibition degree of interactions with a fibrocyte growth factor 5 (FGF-5) is measured, and a living being extract or matter having the function of inhibiting the FGF-5 is selected therefrom. Then, the selected matter or living being extract is preferably subjected to above-mentioned in-vivo evaluation about the hair restoration/new hair growth functions. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
