摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping structure using a viscoelastic body capable of effectively suppressing vibration having large mutual relative displacement of members in a shearing direction without increasing thickness dimension and area of the viscoelastic body. SOLUTION: The viscoelastic body 4 is interposed between the members 1, 2 relatively displacing in the shearing direction and a friction material 5 is interposed between the viscoelastic body 4 and the member 1. The friction material 5 is integrated for the viscoelastic body 4 pressed to be slidable for the member 1. When the mutual relative displacement of the members in the shearing direction by vibration is within a certain range, vibration damping is realized by shearing deformation of the viscoelastic body. When the mutual relative displacement exceeds a certain range, slip occurs between the member and the friction material and vibration damping is realized by shearing deformation of the viscoelastic body and friction of the member and the friction material.
