<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of enhancing the ventilation properties of the atmospheric gas introduced into an element case and capable of uniformly heating a gas sensor element. <P>SOLUTION: The atmospheric gas is passed through a large number of honeycomb-like passages of the base plate part 11A and cap part 11B constituted of a honeycomb material of the element case 11 and heated to a predetermined temperature to be introduced into the element case 11.
