PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow loss characteristics to be substantially equal to those of conventional optical fiber cables, to prevent generation of cracks from the thin thickness portion of the sheath in the vicinity of a high-tensile body, even if impact test is conducted to check the impact resistance characteristics, and to prevent an increase in loss. SOLUTION: In an optical fiber cable 1, optical fibers 3 are provided at an approximate center section and the outer periphery of the optical fibers 3 is filled with an interposed body 5 and the outer periphery of the body 5 is coated by a sheath 7. Within the sheath 7, at least one notch is arranged at a location that is point symmetrical, with respect to the optical fiber from a center point O of the optical fiber cable 1. The angles made by the lines which connect the center point of the optical fiber cable and the notches and the lines which connect the high-tensile bodies are set to 5 to 85 degrees.
