The pulse generator comprises at least one switching transistor (10) for delivering output pulses on the basis of a high-voltage source (24), two oscillatory circuits (40,50) connected to the gate (16) of the transistor for the control according to the mode of oscillatory switching, and the means for the start-up of oscillations including a generator (60) of start-up pulses connected to the gate of the transistor by the intermediary of a resistor (70) and an inductor (26) connected between the drain (14) of the transistor and the terminal (22) of the high-voltage source. The transistor (10) is of the Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET) type, and can switch voltages of about 500 V. The first oscillatory circuit (40) comprising an inductor (42) and a capacitor (44) is connected between the gate (16) and the source (12) of the transistor, and the second oscillatory circuit (50) comprising an inductor (52) and a capacitor (54) is connected between the gate (16) and the drain (14) of the transistor. The two oscillatory circuits (40,50) are tuned to the same resonant frequency, and a capacitor (27) for energy as a bidirectional transil diode is connected between the gate and the source of the transistor. A clamping element (49) such as a bidirectional transil diode is connected between the gate and the source of the transistor for limiting the gate-source voltage. The device for electric supply of high frequency and high voltage to a load (32) comprises a high-voltage source (24), and at least one pulse generator linked to the load by a capacitor (34) and a coaxial cable (30).
