PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for drying and preserving activated aluminum fine grains used as hydrogen source for fuel cell without losing the activity for a long term. SOLUTION: To the aluminum fine grains obtained by pulverizing an aluminum alloy in water, an aluminum fine grain activating treatment composed of a temperature impact treatment for repeating quickly heating and cooling, is applied, and moisture in the activated aluminum fine grains is filtrated, and after pre-chilling the aluminum fine grains, a vacuum-freezing and drying is applied and the dried activated aluminum fine grains are preserved under state of nitrogen atmosphere or vacuum-packing.
