<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for reducing an encoding amount in a fractal image compression by which the encoding amount can be reduced without causing the deterioration of image quality due to an encoding. <P>SOLUTION: An original image 10 is divided into range blocks by an image dividing/extracting part 1, and the range blocks are extracted one by one and sent to a shade/edge block determining part 2 and an optimum domain block determining part 3. A search distance designating part 4 designates a search distance or search range of a domain block when a range block is an edge block. The optimum domain block determining part 3 determines an optimum domain block within the designated search range. A range block data preparing part 5 prepares luminance information as encoding information when the range block is a shade, and meanwhile, when the range block is an edge, the range block data preparing part 5 prepares position information (neighborhood) of a corresponding domain block, luminance conversion information, rotation/inversion conversion information and segmentation information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
