PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a person in communication to recognize the sound volume of the voice of the person concerned detected by a microphone, and to enable the person in communication to decide whether or not the sound volume of the speech is sufficiently audible by the opposite party. SOLUTION: An apparatus includes a volume level detection means 21 for detecting the volume level of an input transmission voice from the output of a sound collection means (microphone 5), a volume level decision means 22 for deciding the volume level from the output of the above volume level detection means, and a volume indication means 23 (display 3 and lamp 9) for indicating the volume level obtained in the above volume level detection means.
