PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polarizing film, capable of manufacturing the polarizing film without color unevenness and having high quality, in a short time. SOLUTION: The method is for manufacturing the polarizing film, by uniaxially stretching a resin film such as a polyvinyl alcohol film in manufacturing processes including a swelling process and a subsequent dyeing process. The swelling process includes a process to successively soak the resin film in a solvent inside at least two or more than two swelling baths. The temperature of the swelling bath, at least positioned at the N-th bath counted from the front is set higher than that of the swelling bath, at positioned at the (N+M)th bath by more than 3°C (both N and M are prescribed integers of one or larger than one).
