PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that 65 to 75% of thermal energy thrown into a gasoline engine cannot but be wasted because thermal efficiency of the gasoline engine is 25 to 35%, which also applies to thermal power generating devices and nuclear power generating devices, and to provide an external combustion engine using exhaust heat and an ammonia refrigerant, although external combustion engines such as typical steam turbines using water as a heating medium and "Stirling engines" which attracted attention once (their availability is not mentioned here) are available. SOLUTION: In this external combustion ammonia engine named "Nagai engine" basically, a refrigeration cycle of a gas refrigerator is applied, and thermal energy is converted into rotating force by using intake and compression strokes of the engine as a liquefaction stroke such that the liquefaction is completed at the top dead center, an expansion stroke as a gasification stroke and an exhaust stroke as an exhaust stroke, in liquefaction and gasification cycles of ammonia.
